Why Locusts

Locusts are a staple livefood for good reason — they are active, easy for reptiles to chase and catch, highly nutritious, and straightforward to digest. Extra-large locusts are sized for larger, adult animals and make an excellent basis for regular feeding routines. Each batch is gut-loaded prior to packing, so your animals are getting maximum nutritional benefit from the moment the tub arrives.

Suitable Animals

Extra-large locusts are well suited to adult and sub-adult specimens of the following species:

• Bearded dragons
• Water dragons
• Monitor lizards
• Chameleons
• Adult turtles
• Insectivorous invertebrates such as praying mantis and tarantulas

Packaging and Delivery

Tubs are well-ventilated with air holes to maintain airflow while keeping the insects secure. Egg-box cardboard inside gives the locusts room to spread out and reduces stress from overcrowding. During warmer months, additional ventilation may be added to the outer packaging; in colder weather, a heat pack may be included to protect the insects during transit. Livefood is dispatched five days a week using fast couriers, packed on the day of dispatch and sent straight from the breeder.

Keeping Them in Good Condition

Store extra-large locusts at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and draughts. Continue to feed them right up until they are offered to your reptile — fresh leafy greens, carrot, squash, or sweet potato all work well, providing both hydration and nutrients. Remove uneaten food daily to keep the housing clean and prevent mould. Well-maintained locusts deliver significantly better nutrition than neglected ones.
