Setting up

Enclosure: A minimum 120x60x60 for a single adult; furnish with a deep sandy-loam or tile substrate, a solid basking platform, at least two hides (one warm side, one cool), and sturdy branches or flat rocks to break up the space and encourage natural behaviours
Heating: Basking spot 35-40°C; warm-side ambient 28°C; cool-side ambient 24°C; night-time drop to 18–22°C is well tolerated
Humidity: 30–40% relative humidity — the naturally arid conditions of central Australia mean good ventilation and a dry substrate are more important than misting; occasional light misting during shedding can help
UVB: A 14% UVB tube spanning most of the vivarium's length, positioned so the animal can bask 25–40cm directly beneath it — bearded dragons are strong, open-sky baskers and require high UV output to metabolise calcium properly and remain healthy long-term
Diet: Juveniles (under 12 months) should be offered appropriately sized live insects (locusts, crickets, black soldier fly larvae) three times daily, with fresh leafy greens available at all times. Adults shift toward a more plant-heavy diet — roughly 60–70% varied greens and vegetables with 30–40% live insects offered every other day. All insects should be gut-loaded before feeding and lightly dusted with calcium and vitamin D3 supplement at most meals.

About the Bearded Dragon Setup

Bearded dragons (Pogona vitticeps) are among the UK's most popular and much-loved pet lizards, making them a fantastic choice for both first-time reptile keepers and experienced enthusiasts.

To thrive in captivity, these fascinating reptiles require a carefully controlled environment with high-quality UVB lighting, appropriate heating, and a warm, dry habitat that replicates their natural Australian surroundings.

Getting their environment right from day one not only supports their long-term health and wellbeing but also saves you time, money, and unnecessary stress.

Our carefully designed setups provide everything you need to give your new dragon the best possible start in life.
