Choose every dimension and detail

Every custom build uses the same 10mm PVC foam board as the standard range, cut and finished to the measurements you give.

  • Size

Length, depth and height to the centimetre through the calculator.

  • Material

Black or white PVC with a semi-gloss finish.

  • Doors

Hinged or sliding, both in toughened safety glass.

  • Top

Mesh for airflow, or solid to hold heat and humidity.

  • Quantity

A single enclosure, or a matching set for a stack or a full reptile room.

  • Larger builds

Anything beyond the calculator, including multi-section units for a whole wall, is quoted by email.

Measuring in centimetres matters when the vivarium has to sit in an alcove, under a window sill or flush with a run of existing units. A few centimetres either way is the difference between a fit and a compromise.

WHY PVC IS THE RIGHT MATERIAL FOR A MADE TO ORDER BUILD

A vivarium built to fit a space usually stays in that space for years, so the material has to cope with heat, humidity and regular cleaning without changing shape. PVC foam board does not absorb water, so it will not swell, rot or delaminate, and panels cut to size stay true. It holds heat better than wood, which keeps running costs down on a larger enclosure, and it is fire-retardant.

Because the board is non-porous it wipes clean and suits bioactive setups with deep, damp substrate. The differences between PVC and wooden vivariums come down to moisture, and on a bespoke build that is the one thing you cannot afford to get wrong. The panels are rigid enough for a long run without sagging, yet light enough for two people to carry a finished enclosure upstairs.

Built around the animal and the room

  • Snakes

A royal python or corn snake does well in a long, low enclosure with enough depth to turn, and an adult boa or carpet python needs more length than most stock sizes offer. Custom length and depth give the floor space without wasted height.

  • Bearded dragons and basking lizards

A 120cm by 60cm floor is the usual starting point. Extra height makes room for a proper basking gradient under a mounted UVB and heat lamp, and a solid top keeps that gradient stable.

  • Monitors and larger lizards

From ackies to bigger species, these animals need a deep digging layer and a strong floor. A custom build can carry the height for a full substrate depth on a footprint that fits the room.

  • Tortoises

An enclosed PVC tortoise vivarium with a mesh top gives Mediterranean species the airflow they need while keeping warmth in overnight, something an open table cannot do.

  • Arboreal species

Chameleons, crested geckos and tree boas use height rather than floor space. Tall, narrow arboreal vivariums built for the corner of a room are one of the most common custom requests.

Alcoves, chimney breast recesses, under-stairs spaces and full reptile rooms all come with their own measurements. Where several units will sit together, order them in one go: board colour can vary slightly between batches, and a set made from the same batch matches across every unit.

Your dream Viperia Vivarium will appear here once you enter a valid length, depth, and height.

 FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How big can a custom vivarium be?

The calculator covers most sizes. Anything beyond it, including multi-section units for a whole wall, is quoted by email.

How long does a custom build take?

Usually 2 to 4 weeks from order to delivery. Busy periods or material supply can add a little to that, and the expected date is confirmed when the order is placed.

How is a custom size priced?

The calculator prices each build from the size and options chosen, shown with VAT included. Delivery is calculated at checkout and is free on orders over £79, with a pallet charge where one is needed.

Can I return or cancel a custom vivarium?

No. Made to order vivariums are built to your specification and cannot be cancelled or refunded once paid, so measure twice before ordering. If a delivery arrives damaged, note it with the driver at the door and email photos to sales@viperia.co.uk straight away.

How is it delivered?

Flat-packed and boxed, either on the Viperia van or by pallet. A pallet delivery may be a kerbside drop rather than to the door, so if access is tight, or the address is a flat or gated development, contact Viperia before ordering.

Does it arrive assembled?

No. The panels slot together and are fixed with screws, with no specialist tools needed. Silicone can be added at the joints during assembly for a fully watertight base, which is worth doing for bioactive or high-humidity setups.

Is a standard size quicker?

Yes. Standard sizes are held in stock and Viperia aims for next working day delivery, so if a stock size fits the space it is the faster option.

Can I see one before I order?

Viewings are by appointment at Viperia Exotics in Bridgnorth, Shropshire. Call 01743 293425 or email sales@viperia.co.uk to arrange a time.
