Reptile Systems Zone 2 T5 UVB Lamp

The Reptile Systems Zone 2 T5 is a high-output UVB fluorescent lamp designed for reptiles that require moderate UV exposure in their vivarium. Available in four sizes to suit enclosures of different scales, this tube delivers consistent UVB and UVA output to support the health of a wide range of species kept in UK reptile collections.

UVB and UVA Output

The Zone 2 tube produces 6% UVB, supporting the synthesis of vitamin D3 in reptiles that rely on UV exposure for calcium metabolism. It also emits 30% UVA, which contributes to natural behaviour and stimulation that reptiles would otherwise receive from sunlight.

Light Quality

Beyond UV output, the Zone 2 produces excellent natural colour rendering, making the vivarium environment look accurate to the keeper's eye and more natural for the animal. This makes it a practical choice for display enclosures as well as everyday husbandry setups.

Compatibility and Use

This lamp operates exclusively with equipment containing an appropriate T5 electronic ballast — it will not function with older magnetic ballast fittings. For best results, use it with a dedicated T5 luminaire or electronic controller. As with all fluorescent UVB lamps, replace after one year of normal use to maintain effective UV output, even if the lamp is still producing visible light.
