It takes over once the initial neonatal phase is complete, supporting steady growth and development through to weaning and emancipation. Species This Formula Is Designed For

This formula is tailored to the nutritional requirements of smaller psittacine genera, including Melopsittacus (budgerigars), Nymphicus (cockatiels), Agapornis (lovebirds), Neophema, Eolophus, and related species. It is not a general-purpose hand-rearing food — it is built around the specific needs of these birds.

When to Introduce It

Psittacus Mini is introduced once the first neonatal phase has passed — in cockatiels, for example, this is typically from the second week of life. For very young birds in their first week, a crop milk formula is recommended initially, with Psittacus Mini gradually incorporated alongside it before transitioning fully. During the weaning phase, it should be phased out progressively in favour of a dry adult diet.

Feeding Guidance

Daily formula intake is recommended at between 7 and 10 ml per feeding bout per 100 g of body weight. The number of feeding bouts required each day will vary depending on the species and the age of the bird. Use continues until emancipation, with a gradual transition during the weaning period.
