Psittacus Lory Nectar is a specialist complementary food formulated for adult lorikeets and lories — birds of the Loriinae subfamily whose dietary needs set them apart from most other parrots. Rich in dehydrated fruit and natural sugars, it mirrors the nectar-based nutrition these birds are adapted to process, and can be offered dry or mixed with water as a suspension.

How to Offer It

Psittacus Lory Nectar can be served dry or prepared as a water suspension. If mixing with water, avoid over-diluting — a well-concentrated suspension better reflects the nutrient density these birds require. Offer it in a dedicated feeder, kept separate from any other food sources provided alongside it.

This is a complementary food, not a standalone diet. It is designed to be used alongside Lory Gel, with both products offered simultaneously in separate feeders. Birds will naturally self-regulate their intake of each, consuming more or less depending on their current nutritional requirements. Neither product replaces the other — together they form a more complete nutritional picture for birds in your care.

When chicks are present in the nest, it is advisable to also make a suitable hand-feeding formula available — either a Frugivorous Neonatal Hand Feeding Formula for younger chicks or a Lory-specific Hand Feeding Formula as they develop.
