Product Information
Psittacus Frugivorous Neonatal Hand Feeding is a specialist formula designed for the early hand-rearing of frugivorous psittacine birds. It covers the second phase of the neonatal period — from approximately day seven or eight of life through to the point at which pin feathers begin to emerge — making it a precise tool for breeders working with these species at their most vulnerable stage.
Formulation
The formula is built around a high proportion of dehydrated whole egg and papaya. The papaya content actively supports digestive transit, which is particularly important in very young birds whose gut function is still developing. This is a diet matched to the specific nutritional profile that frugivorous psittacines require during this critical window.
Preparation and Administration
Mix the powder with lukewarm water to a concentration of approximately 25% solids before use. Administration via a soft feeding tube is recommended to ensure safe and accurate delivery to neonates at this stage of development.
Feeding Programme
- For birds younger than seven to eight days old, Frugivorous Psittacine Crop Milk should be used ahead of this formula
- This formula covers the neonatal phase from day seven or eight until pin feathers emerge
- Once pin feathers appear, transition to a species-appropriate follow-on hand-feeding formula
Used as part of a structured feeding programme, Psittacus Frugivorous Neonatal Hand Feeding gives breeders a reliable, stage-specific formula that takes the guesswork out of early neonatal nutrition for frugivorous psittacines.
