ProRep Vivarium Black Aluminium Frame

Aluminium Frame Construction

Where conventional vivariums rely entirely on wooden panels for structural integrity, these enclosures use a robust aluminium profile running along every outer edge. This locks the side and back panels firmly in place, eliminates the risk of panels splitting or warping over time, and gives the whole build a rigidity that wooden-framed alternatives simply can't match.

Panel Specification

The panel thicknesses are chosen deliberately to balance strength with weight. The bottom panel is 12mm melamine-coated chipboard, the side panels are 6mm melamine-coated chipboard, and the top panel is 15mm — thick enough to hold equipment such as lighting and thermostats screwed directly into the ceiling and held securely. The aluminium frame does the structural heavy lifting, so thinner side panels don't compromise the build.

Front Visibility

Because the aluminium corner posts carry the structural load, there's no need for the large wooden support plinths typically found at the front of traditional vivariums. A bottom strip of glass sits beneath a black runner, with sliding glass doors that extend all the way to the ceiling — giving an unobstructed view across the full front face of the enclosure. A plastic door latch keeps the doors secure.

Ventilation and Cable Management

• Side-mounted black plastic vents allow the enclosure to be positioned flush against a wall without blocking airflow
• A 5mm ventilation lip runs around both the top and bottom panels for consistent passive airflow
• Adjustable rear cable management provides easy, tidy access for wiring heating and lighting equipment
