What It's Made From

Vermiculite is a naturally occurring mineral formed from volcanic rock that has been exfoliated through heat. Because it is entirely inert, it will not break down, ferment, or introduce harmful organisms into the incubation environment. Using It as an Incubation Medium

To use as an egg incubation medium, place a substantial layer of moistened vermiculite into your incubation container. A starting moisture ratio of 2 parts vermiculite to 1 part water by weight is appropriate for many species, though individual species requirements will vary. Eggs should be partially buried with the top third exposed, kept the same orientation as found at the laying site, and positioned so they do not come into contact with one another throughout incubation.

Invertebrate Use
