ProRep Light Guard

The ProRep UV Tube Guard is a purpose-built mesh enclosure for fluorescent UV tubes, keeping reptiles safely away from fragile lighting while preserving as much UVB output as possible. Available in four sizes to suit vivariums of different lengths, it is a practical addition to any wooden vivarium setup running UV strip lighting.

UVB Transmission

The guard uses a wide-gauge mesh with a reflective finish, both of which help minimise UVB loss as light passes through to the enclosure below. This means your reptile continues to receive effective UV exposure without the guard becoming a significant barrier between the lamp and the animal.

Safety and Protection

The mesh barrier prevents reptiles from making direct contact with the tube, protecting both the animal from burns and the lamp from impact damage. The lightweight yet strong construction holds up to daily use in a vivarium environment without adding unnecessary bulk to the lighting setup.

Access and Maintenance

A hinged panel with double security fasteners runs the length of the guard, giving straightforward access to the tube for replacements and routine maintenance. Critically, the fixture itself does not need to be removed to open the guard, making lamp changes far less disruptive.

Mounting and Installation

Four mounting brackets are included for secure fixing directly to the roof of a wooden vivarium. Three cable entry cut-outs accommodate both single and double-cable fluorescent units, allowing the guard to sit flush against the vivarium ceiling for a clean, integrated finish.
