What It's Made From

This substrate is derived entirely from the dried chopped stem of the hemp plant. The result is a soft, fibrous material that is completely biodegradable and safe if accidentally ingested — an important consideration for species that habitually root through or consume their substrate.

How to Use It

Spread evenly across the enclosure floor to a depth of at least 2.5–5cm. Spot-clean daily to remove waste, and replace the substrate fully every two to three weeks — or sooner if it becomes heavily soiled or wet. Keeping on top of this routine maintains a hygienic environment and reduces the risk of bacterial build-up.

Using With Heat Mats

If an under-tank heat mat is your primary heat source, avoid applying a thick layer of hemp bedding directly above it. Excess depth can trap heat and cause the mat to overheat. Always follow the heat mat manufacturer's guidance on substrate depth when using this combination.
