ProRep Flood Lamp

The ProRep Flood Spot Lamp is a daytime vivarium bulb designed specifically for reptile enclosures, producing visible light, UVA, and heat in the form of short-wave infrared. Unlike standard spot lamps, it uses a diffused internal coating on the glass to scatter light and heat evenly across the enclosure rather than concentrating output into a single point. Available in a range of wattages to suit different enclosure sizes and setups, it fits ES (Edison Screw) lamp holders.

How It Works

The diffused coating means heat and light are distributed broadly rather than focused into one intense hotspot. This mimics the quality of light filtering through cloud cover — a condition commonly experienced by tropical diurnal species in the wild. It is particularly well-suited to species that do not require a concentrated basking spot but still need warmth, light, and UVA across their environment.

Placement and Setup

Mount the lamp directly above the intended warm area, positioned approximately one third from one end of the enclosure. This allows a thermal gradient to develop across the vivarium, giving the animal the ability to self-regulate its body temperature by moving between warmer and cooler zones — a fundamental aspect of good reptile husbandry.

Thermostat and Safety

• Use with a dimming thermostat to maintain accurate temperatures and prevent overheating
• Always fit an appropriate lamp guard — contact between the animal and the bulb will cause burns
• Ensure the lamp holder is rated for the wattage selected and is the correct ES fitting
