ProRep Beech Chips Coarse

ProRep Beech Chips Coarse is a natural loose substrate suited to a wide range of larger reptiles, including snakes and lizards, as well as birds and mammals. Kiln-dried and produced from sustainably harvested wood, it delivers a clean, dust-free base layer that works well across a variety of vivarium and terrarium setups. What It's Made From

These beech chips are kiln-dried to reduce moisture content and minimise the risk of mould or bacterial build-up in the enclosure. The wood is sourced from sustainable forests, making it a responsible choice for keepers who want a natural substrate without the environmental compromise.

How to Use It

Spread the substrate evenly across the floor of the enclosure to a depth of at least 2.5–5cm. Spot-clean daily to remove waste and replace the substrate fully every two to three weeks — or sooner if it becomes heavily soiled or wet.

Heat Mat Compatibility

If you are running an under-tank heat mat as your primary heat source, avoid applying an excessively thick layer of substrate directly over it. A deep layer of beech chips can trap heat and cause the mat to overheat. Always check the heat mat manufacturer's guidance for recommended substrate depths.
