ProRep Beech Chips Coarse

ProRep Beech Chips Coarse is a natural loose substrate suited to a wide range of larger reptiles, including snakes and lizards, as well as birds and mammals. Kiln-dried and sourced from sustainably managed forests, it provides a clean, practical bedding option for keepers who want a reliable naturalistic base for their vivarium or terrarium. Substrate Quality

The chips are kiln-dried to keep dust levels low, which matters both for your animals' respiratory health and for general enclosure hygiene. The coarse grade gives good visual contrast for spot-cleaning and holds its structure well underfoot.

Recommended Use

Spread the substrate evenly across the enclosure floor to a depth of at least 2.5–5cm. For best results, spot-clean daily to remove waste and soiled material, and carry out a full substrate change every two to three weeks — or sooner if it becomes heavily contaminated or wet.

Heatmat Compatibility Note

If you are running an under-tank heatmat as your primary heat source, avoid applying a thick layer of beech chips directly over it. Excessive depth can restrict heat dissipation and cause the mat to overheat. Always follow the heatmat manufacturer's guidance on substrate depth.
