Built for Basking

Each lamp features a built-in reflector that concentrates light and heat into a focused beam, directing short-wave infrared toward a specific basking spot rather than dispersing it evenly. This mirrors the intensity a reptile would experience under direct sunlight in the wild, encouraging natural thermoregulatory behaviour. Diurnal species in particular benefit from this kind of directed heat source as their primary basking lamp.

Heat, Light, and UVA in One

Beyond warmth, these lamps emit UVA radiation and visible light simultaneously, contributing to a more complete and biologically relevant environment. Setup and Placement

Mount the lamp directly above the basking site, positioned approximately one third from one end of the enclosure — this preserves a cooler end and creates the gradient essential for proper thermoregulation. Use only in an approved ES (Edison Screw) fitting rated for the lamp's output. A lamp guard must always be used to prevent direct contact between the animal and the lamp surface.

Thermostat Compatibility

Use of a dimming thermostat is strongly recommended with any basking spot lamp. This keeps temperatures stable, prevents overheating, and extends lamp life. Without thermostat control, basking zones can exceed safe limits — particularly in smaller or well-insulated enclosures.

Choosing the Right Wattage

Select the wattage based on your enclosure size, construction material, and the target basking temperature for your species.
