ProRep Corn Cob Granules is a dry, free-flowing vivarium substrate suited to lizards and snakes from arid and semi-arid environments. Ground from the centre of corn cobs, it replicates the loose, granular texture these species encounter in the wild and is straightforward to maintain as part of a regular cleaning routine.

What It's Made From

The substrate is produced by grinding corn cob centres into consistent granules. This process creates a lightweight, free-draining material that remains easy to work with in a dry vivarium setup. It must not be used wet, and conditions should be managed to keep it dry throughout use.

Suitable Species

Corn Cob Granules are appropriate for a wide range of arid-habitat reptiles, including many commonly kept lizard and snake species. It is not suitable for species requiring high humidity or a moist substrate environment.

Recommended Depth and Placement

Spread evenly across the full floor area of the enclosure to a minimum depth of 1–2 inches (2.5–5cm). A consistent depth allows animals to interact naturally with the substrate while keeping the vivarium floor properly covered.

Maintenance and Replacement

• Spot-clean the substrate daily to remove waste and soiled material
• Replace the entire substrate every two to three weeks under normal conditions
• Replace sooner if the substrate becomes heavily soiled or exposed to moisture
• Avoid conditions that allow the substrate to become wet, which can encourage bacterial growth

Important Safety Note

Care should be taken to minimise significant ingestion of this substrate. Feeding animals in a separate enclosure or using a feeding dish reduces the risk of accidental consumption during feeding.
