ProRep Coco Bedding Fine

ProRep Coco Bedding Fine is a 100% natural coconut fibre substrate designed for reptiles, amphibians, and invertebrates that require a humid vivarium environment. Ground from the fibrous husk of the coconut and screened to a fine particle size, it works equally well in tropical terrariums, bioactive setups, and standard enclosures.

What It's Made From

The substrate is derived entirely from coconut husk — a renewable, sustainable material. Once separated from the nut, the fibrous husk is screened and ground to a consistent fine grade. It carries a slightly acidic pH, naturally high antibacterial properties, and a significant lignin content that resists decomposition even when kept moist.

Which Species It Suits

Any species that benefits from a humid environment is well served by this substrate. This includes tropical and rainforest reptiles, most amphibian species, and the majority of humidity-dependent invertebrates. It can be used dry for species with more moderate humidity requirements or kept damp for those needing consistently high moisture levels.

How to Use It

• Spread evenly across the enclosure floor to a depth of 1–2 inches (2.5–5cm)
• Spot clean daily, removing soiled areas and topping up with fresh substrate
• Replace fully every two to three weeks, or sooner if heavily soiled
• Can be used alone or blended with other substrates to achieve a specific texture or drainage profile
• Mist to raise humidity as needed — avoid waterlogging

Using With a Heat Mat

If a heat mat is positioned beneath the enclosure, substrate depth must not exceed 1cm over the mat. Place the thermostat probe directly on the mat surface rather than within the substrate. Always follow the heat mat manufacturer's guidance — insufficient airflow around the mat can cause overheating.
