The MK STARTER Misting System v5.0 is a compact, reliable automated misting kit built for reptile and amphibian keepers who want consistent humidity control without complexity. Designed as a capable standalone setup for smaller enclosures or as a customisable base for larger builds, it runs on a robust 24V DC pump paired with a digital seconds timer — giving you precise, repeatable misting cycles from day one. It ships ready to use with one nozzle and can be expanded to run up to ten.

The pump

The 24V DC pump at the heart of this system has been extensively field-tested and factory-tested for reliability. Its failure rate is exceptionally low, and critically, it tolerates running dry — a real-world advantage in a vivarium setting where reservoirs can occasionally run empty. Custom manufactured specifically for this system, it is not an off-the-shelf component.

The nozzle assembly

The included Value L misting assembly produces a fine mist with an average droplet size of around 50 microns — fine enough to raise ambient humidity effectively without saturating substrate unnecessarily. The check-valved tip is patented and prevents post-mist dripping, keeping the enclosure environment consistent between cycles. The nozzle is fully adjustable for direction and can be mounted to any surface up to 5/8" thick.

Timer control

The Digital Seconds Timer ST-24 allows you to programme misting durations in seconds, giving you genuine precision over humidity cycles rather than the broad intervals typical of basic plug-in timers. This is particularly useful for species with narrow humidity requirements or where short, frequent bursts are preferable to longer, less regular cycles.

Scalability

The MK STARTER Misting System v5.0 is designed to grow with your setup. The pump supports up to 10 nozzles, so additional nozzle assemblies and tubing can be added as you expand. For builds requiring more than 10 nozzles, a higher-capacity pump or a more advanced system would be required. Please note: a reservoir is not included with this kit and will need to be sourced separately.
