Not the Same as a Standard Fast-Blow Fuse

These ultra-fast fuses are distinct from the standard fast-blow fuses found in some other thermostat brands. They react quickly enough to protect the thermostat's internal circuitry against the large electrical spikes that can occur when an incandescent lamp fails — a failure mode that standard fuses may not respond to in time.

Compatibility

These fuses are fitted as standard in all Microclimate Prime thermostats, and in all Microclimate B1 and B1ME dimming thermostats manufactured after January 2014. If you are running any of these units, this is the correct replacement fuse to keep to hand.

Why Keep Spares

A blown fuse means a thermostat that stops regulating — which in a vivarium context can be serious. Keeping a pack of five ensures you can restore your setup without delay, and without resorting to an incorrect fuse type that leaves the thermostat unprotected.

Sourcing the right fuse matters. Fitting the wrong type may leave your thermostat vulnerable to spike damage even if it appears to be working normally.
