Microclimate EVO Connected 3 – Three Channel Smart Thermostat

The Microclimate EVO Connected 3 is a three-channel, cloud-connected thermostat built for reptile keepers who want precise environmental control across multiple vivariums — monitored and managed from anywhere. It takes the well-established EVO platform and adds Wi-Fi connectivity, a redesigned capacitive touch display, per-channel IP-rated sensors, and a fully featured mobile app, making it one of the most capable thermostats available for serious collection management.

Redesigned Display

The new capacitive touch panel replaces traditional buttons with a smooth, all-glass front and gloss black bezel. Response times are fast and the interface is clean — it sits neatly on the front of any vivarium setup without looking out of place. A single cable runs from the display to the main control box, keeping wiring tidy and out of sight. Both the display unit and the main control box include integrated mounting solutions.

Channel Configuration

• Each channel has its own IP-rated temperature sensor

Having a dedicated sensor per channel means you can log temperature data across the full thermal gradient of an enclosure — place the primary probe in the basking zone while a second monitors the cool end independently. This is particularly useful for data logging and for setups where one channel is managing lighting rather than heating.

App and Cloud Control

The EVO Connected app is available on iOS and Android and acts as a central dashboard for your entire collection. Add multiple thermostats to a single app account, switch between them from the home screen, and mix different EVO Connected models within the same interface. Real-time data is displayed per thermostat, including current channel temperatures, set points, power output status, and temperature graphs showing up to 12 months of historical data. You can also invite other users — family members, co-keepers, or colleagues — with configurable access levels. A web dashboard is also available for browser-based control. Wi-Fi connection to the thermostat is required for cloud features.

Menu System and Channel Control

The on-screen menu follows the same layout as the previous EVO generation, so existing users can get straight back into it without relearning the interface. Channels can be individually named and are colour-coded for quick identification. Each channel can be configured for Heating, Cooling, or Fixed control, and each can be set independently between Dimming or Pulse output modes. The same straightforward menu structure is mirrored within the app.

Timing Modes

• Constant: a single temperature or output setting maintained around the clock
• Day/Night: separate settings for daytime and night-time periods
• Multi: up to eight different temperature or output settings across a 24-hour cycle
• Seasons: the ability to programme different day length and temperature settings across the calendar year for naturalistic annual cycles

Ramp Time

Each channel supports a programmable ramp time, which controls how gradually temperature transitions occur between set points. Rather than an enclosure snapping from a cool night-time temperature to a warm daytime temperature, the change can be spread over one or two hours. Combined with the multi-setting timing mode, this allows a continuous, naturalistic temperature cycle across a full 24-hour period — more reflective of conditions in the wild and less stressful for the animal.
