Packaging and Transit

Locusts arrive in a ventilated plastic tub with egg-box cardboard inserts, which increase surface area, reduce overcrowding, and lower the risk of trampling. Ventilation holes along the sides maintain airflow while keeping insects securely contained. During colder months, a heat pack may be included to maintain a safe transit temperature; in warmer months, the outer box may carry additional perforations to aid cooling.

Keeping and Feeding Your Locusts

Store locusts in the tub they arrive in at room temperature, away from direct sunlight, draughts, and damp. Keep the container dry and well-ventilated. Continue feeding them fresh leafy greens, carrot, squash, or sweet potato right up until you use them — this maintains hydration and nutritional content. Remove uneaten food daily to prevent mould buildup and keep conditions clean.
