Product Information

Medium black crickets are a staple livefood for a wide range of reptiles, amphibians, and invertebrates. Farm-bred, gut-loaded before packing, and dispatched directly from the breeder, these are a reliable, nutritious feeder insect suited to regular use. Available in a 100-pack or 1000-bag depending on how many animals you're feeding and how often.

Why Medium?

Medium black crickets sit at a size that works well for juvenile reptiles and smaller adult species — not so large as to intimidate or cause harm, and substantial enough to offer a meaningful meal. They are commonly used for juvenile bearded dragons, chameleons, and geckos, as well as frogs, mantids, and tarantulas. Their size also makes them a practical option for smaller pacman frogs and bullfrogs.

Nutrition and Gut-Loading

These crickets are pre-fed before dispatch to maximise their nutritional value on arrival. To maintain that quality once they reach you, continue feeding them until they are used. Fresh leafy greens, carrot, squash, or sweet potato all provide hydration and nutrients that pass directly to your animal. Remove uneaten food daily to keep conditions clean and prevent mould.

Packaging and Transit

Crickets arrive in a ventilated plastic tub with egg-box cardboard inside — this increases surface area, reduces overcrowding, and keeps the insects in good condition during transit. Small air holes along the sides maintain airflow without compromising containment. During warmer months, the outer box may carry additional perforations for cooling; in colder months, a heat pack may be included to protect the insects in transit.

Suitable For

  • Juvenile bearded dragons and other lizards
  • Juvenile geckos and chameleons
  • Frogs and toads (including smaller pacman and bullfrogs)
  • Praying mantids
  • Tarantulas and other insectivorous invertebrates

Keeping Them in Good Condition

Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and draughts. Provide adequate space and hiding spots to prevent trampling and stress. Feed regularly right up to use — well-maintained crickets are significantly more beneficial to your animal than neglected ones.

Whether you are feeding a single vivarium or stocking up for multiple setups, choose the pack size that suits your feeding routine from the options on this page.
