Product Information
Turtle Vine (Callisia repens) is a succulent, creeping plant from Central and South America and one of the most useful edible live plants a reptile keeper can have in their setup. This large pot gives you a generous, established plant ready to go to work straight away — either inside the enclosure or as a windowsill crop you harvest from regularly.
About the Plant
Belonging to the family Commelinaceae, Callisia repens is a low-growing, trailing species that naturally spreads across the forest floor in humid tropical regions. It thrives in moist, well-drained substrate and suits tropical terrarium conditions well, making it as much a functional vivarium plant as a food source.
A Reliable Edible for Reptiles
Turtle Vine is a well-established favourite among reptile keepers as a fresh, leafy food source. It provides a consistent supply of vitamins year-round without relying on shop-bought salad or seasonal availability. Tortoises, iguanas, and other herbivorous and omnivorous reptiles readily take it.
Two Ways to Use It
The entire pot can be placed directly inside the enclosure, letting your animals graze naturally while the plant continues to grow. Alternatively, keep it on a bright windowsill and trim stems as needed — the plant regenerates quickly, meaning a single large pot can supply feed for an extended period.
A practical, low-maintenance addition to any herbivorous reptile's diet, the ProRep Turtle Vine (Large) keeps feeding time fresher and more varied throughout the year.
