Fish Science Oak and Algae Wafers are a complete, nutritionally balanced diet designed specifically for Plecostomus, Peckoltia, and other larger algae-eating aquarium fish. Available in two sizes to suit different feeding regimes and tank setups, these wafers are formulated to support digestion, grazing behaviour, and long-term health.

The Oak Bark Difference

The inclusion of oak bark at 3% is central to this formula. It provides essential roughage that supports efficient digestion — particularly important for species that naturally consume wood and plant matter in the wild. This is not a token addition; it reflects how these fish actually feed.

Slow-Dissolving Wafers

Each wafer is 17mm in diameter and engineered to dissolve slowly, allowing fish to graze at their own pace rather than competing for rapidly softening food. This mirrors natural foraging behaviour and reduces waste in the water column.

Ingredients and Composition

The formula brings together plant protein, cereals, fish and fish derivatives, wheat germ, algae — including Spirulina and kelp at 12% — vegetables, oak bark, minerals, tocopherols, and rosemary extract. Nutritional analysis: Protein 38.3%, Oil 3.7%, Fibre 3.2%, Moisture 8.2%, Ash 13.4%.

Feeding Guide

Feed once or twice daily, offering as much as your fish will consume within 20 minutes. For smaller fish sharing the tank, wafers can be broken into pieces before feeding to ensure all fish get access.

Choose the pack size that suits your setup — smaller quantities are ideal for those with fewer fish or those trying the food for the first time, while the larger option suits established tanks with multiple algae eaters.
