FS Oak and Algae Wafers

A nutritionally complete wafer food formulated specifically for Plecostomus, Peckoltia, and other larger algae-eating aquarium fish. The inclusion of oak bark and algae sets this apart from standard sinking wafers — addressing both the dietary and digestive needs of wood-grazing species. Available in two sizes to suit different tank setups and feeding schedules.

Why Oak Bark Matters

Oak bark is included at 3% of the formula to provide essential roughage, supporting efficient digestion in fish that naturally rasp and graze on wood. This isn't a cosmetic addition — it reflects how these fish feed in the wild and helps maintain gut health over the long term.

Algae Content and Composition

Spirulina and kelp make up 12% of the formula, delivering the plant-based nutrition that algae eaters require. The full ingredient list includes plant protein, cereals, fish and fish derivatives, wheat germ, vegetables, minerals, tocopherols, and rosemary extract — a broad, balanced base rather than a filler-heavy wafer.

Wafer Format and Feeding

Each wafer is 17mm in diameter and slow to dissolve, allowing fish to graze naturally rather than competing for food before it breaks apart. Feed once or twice daily, offering only what your fish will consume within 20 minutes. For smaller fish sharing the tank, the wafers can be broken into pieces before feeding.
