Fish Science Discus Pellets are a specialist insect-based diet formulated for discus kept in freshwater aquaria. Built around a 36% insect meal blend and free from both grain and fish meal, this is a diet that takes discus nutrition seriously — reflecting what these fish actually eat in the wild rather than relying on cheap fillers.

Insect-Based Formula

The insect meal content draws from four sources: Black Soldier Fly, Mealworm, Daphnia, and Bloodworm — together making up 36% of the formula. Grain-free and fish meal-free, the diet is built around ingredients that align with the natural feeding behaviour of discus in South American river systems.

Colour Enhancement and Immune Support

Natural colour-enhancing ingredients are incorporated into the formula, including Spirulina, Haematococcus pluvialis, and Turmeric. Immune-supporting ingredients such as Garlic, Hydrolysed tannins, and Kelp are also present, working alongside a full vitamin package that includes Vitamins A, D3, E, and C.

Pellet Format

These are 3mm slowly sinking pellets, a format suited to discus which typically feed at mid-water depth. The slow sink rate gives fish time to intercept food before it reaches the substrate, reducing waste and keeping water quality stable.

Feeding Guide

Feed once or twice daily, offering only as much as your discus will consume within one minute. Remove any uneaten food promptly. If switching from another diet, allow a few days for your fish to adjust — discus can be cautious with new foods.
