Designed for T5 VHO Performance

This fixture is built around the Exo Terra T5 VHO bulb format, though it accepts any T5 linear fluorescent tube of the appropriate wattage and length. The high-quality electronic ballast eliminates flicker entirely, which benefits both the animal and the keeper — it also extends the working lifespan of the bulb itself.

Reflector Output

The highly polished internal reflector increases lamp output by 2.5 times compared to running the bulb without one. This means more usable UVB and visible light reaches the animals below, without any change to the bulb itself.

Safety and Electrical Protection

The fixture comes with a grounded plug as standard and includes built-in protection against over-voltage, over-current, over-heating, and end-of-lamp-life (EOL) conditions. These aren't optional extras — they're integrated into every unit in the range.

Flexible Placement and Linking

Each fixture can be placed directly on top of terrarium mesh or mounted inside the enclosure using the appropriate mounting bracket (sold separately). Up to 10 fixtures can be linked together using optional grounded interconnection cables, available in 30cm or 60cm lengths, also sold separately. This allows all linked units to be controlled from a single timer, keeping cable management clean in multi-enclosure setups. For extra-long enclosures, fixtures can also be mounted side by side using a purpose-made mounting bracket.

UVB and Heat — Use Together

UVB alone is not sufficient for most species. Exo Terra recommend combining this fixture with a dedicated infrared-A (NIR) basking source, such as a halogen or intense basking spot bulb, to provide the full spectrum of light and heat that reptiles need for thermoregulation and vitamin D3 synthesis.
