Product Information

The ET Thermostat 300W Dimming & Pulse Proportional (PT2461) is a dual-mode reptile thermostat designed for keepers who need accurate, stable temperature control in desert or tropical vivarium setups. By combining dimming and pulse proportional technology, it holds temperatures far closer to the target set-point than basic on/off thermostats — reducing the swings that can stress animals and compromise thermoregulation. Compatible with heat mats, heat cables, ceramic heaters, and incandescent heat bulbs up to 300W.

Temperature Control Modes

This thermostat offers a choice of three operating modes: Pulse Proportional, Dimming, or conventional ON/OFF — selectable to suit the type of heating device in use. The dimming and pulse proportional functions actively modulate power output to maintain the set-point with high accuracy, rather than simply cutting power on and off. This makes it particularly well-suited to setups where temperature stability is critical, such as bioactive enclosures or breeding projects.

Temperature Range & Accuracy

  • Adjustable temperature range: 18°C to 38°C
  • Dimming and Pulse Proportional modes maintain set-point with significantly reduced temperature swings
  • Suitable for both tropical and arid vivarium environments
  • Controls heating devices rated up to 300W

Build & Safety Features

The control dial is recessed into the housing to prevent accidental adjustment during routine handling or maintenance. The thermostat comes with a grounded power cord and a grounded receptacle, which allows connection to a power outlet strip for cleaner cable management. The remote temperature probe is waterproof, making it safe to position in high-humidity enclosures or setups with water features.

Status Indicators

Two LED indicators give an immediate visual read on heating status: a red LED illuminates when the heating device is receiving power, and a blue LED lights up once the set temperature has been reached and power to the heater has been reduced or cut. At a glance, you can confirm the system is working as intended without needing to check a separate thermometer.

Set the temperature according to the preferred optimum temperature range (POTR) for the species you keep, position the probe at the appropriate point in the enclosure, and always verify conditions with a separate thermometer. The PT2461 gives keepers a reliable foundation for maintaining the thermal environment their animals actually need.
