Product Information

The Exo Terra Pro Paludarium 30x30x60cm is a purpose-built glass terrarium designed for keepers who want to create genuinely complex aquatic-terrestrial environments. Developed by European herpetologists, it suits a wide range of species including mourning geckos, Williams' dwarf geckos, small fish such as guppies, shrimp, and semi-aquatic amphibians. Its tall, narrow footprint makes it especially well-suited to vertical builds with significant water volume at the base.

Three Distinct Habitat Zones

A paludarium divides the living space into three functional layers, each serving a different ecological role. The terrestrial zone sits above the waterline — a dry land area planted with vegetation and structured with rock or wood. The riparian zone forms the transitional band between land and water, where semi-aquatic species such as frogs, newts, and invertebrates naturally spend much of their time. The aquatic zone is a fully submerged area at the base, capable of supporting fish, shrimp, and other water-dwelling inhabitants.

Waterproof Base and Drainage System

The extra-deep base is fully waterproof once the included tubing, elbow connector, and tap valve are fitted to the drain outlet. A built-in bottom drainage system makes water changes and excess water removal straightforward without dismantling the entire setup. This makes ongoing maintenance considerably less disruptive to the habitat and its occupants.

Ventilation and Condensation Control

The Pro Paludarium features an advanced three-tier adjustable airflow system with patented forced vertical airflow, engineered specifically to combat condensation — a persistent issue in high-humidity paludarium builds. Ventilation inlets are concealed within the frame for a clean visual finish, and an integrated dirt collector prevents substrate or sand from escaping through the vent holes. Controlled airflow also supports the respiratory health of reptiles and amphibians housed inside.

Access, Security, and Build Quality

  • Front-opening door with spring-loaded push latch for smooth, one-handed access
  • Integrated lock on the door prevents accidental openings
  • Removable top with patented in-frame locking mechanism for safe top-down access
  • Stainless steel screen top for optimal UVB and heat lamp penetration
  • Raised bottom frame accommodates a heat mat mounted beneath the enclosure
  • Multiple self-closing inlets at the rear top for cables and tubing
  • Internal gutters for clean tubing management
  • Dedicated nozzle attachment points for use with an automatic misting system (not included)

Species and Setup Suitability

The 30x30x60cm format suits small arboreal and semi-aquatic species that benefit from vertical climbing space combined with access to standing water. Rainforest, swamp, and riverside biotope builds all fall within the design intent of this enclosure. The increased interior volume supports diverse microhabitats, allowing separate temperature gradients, humidity zones, and multiple retreats within a single unit.

For keepers who want a high-functioning paludarium without building bespoke, the Exo Terra Pro Paludarium 30x30x60cm delivers a considered, well-engineered solution — built around what the animals and the keeper actually need.
