Product Information

Live edible snails are a nutritious, high-interest feeder item for a wide range of reptiles and amphibians. This pre-pack contains medium-sized snails, gut-loaded before packing and dispatched directly from the breeder for maximum freshness on arrival. Available in small, medium, and large sizes to suit animals at different life stages and with different prey requirements.

Why Snails Work as Feeder Prey

Snails offer a different nutritional and sensory profile to standard insect livefoods, making them a valuable addition to a varied diet. The hard outer shell provides a challenge that encourages natural foraging behaviour, and the soft interior is highly digestible once through the casing. They are particularly well-suited as an occasional treat rather than a dietary staple, adding enrichment and nutritional variety in one.

Suitable Species

Snails are a practical feeder choice for reptiles and amphibians that would encounter them naturally or that respond well to varied prey items. Species that benefit include:

  • Bearded Dragons
  • Blue-tongued Skinks
  • Frilled Dragons
  • Water Dragons
  • Turtles

Gut-Loading and Nutrition

These snails are fed a nutritious diet before packing, so your animal is getting the benefit of a properly conditioned feeder from the moment they arrive. To maintain that nutritional value at home, continue offering fresh leafy greens, carrots, squash, or sweet potato right up until use. Remove any uneaten food daily to keep the holding enclosure clean and prevent mould building up.

Packaging and Transit

Snails arrive in a ventilated plastic tub with egg-box cardboard inside to increase surface area and reduce the risk of overcrowding or stress during transit. Air holes along the sides keep airflow consistent while containing the snails securely. In colder months, a heat pack may be included to maintain a suitable temperature during delivery; in warmer months, additional perforations in the outer box aid ventilation and cooling.

Holding and Care

Keep snails at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and draughts. Provide appropriately sized housing with space for the snails to move and shelter. Feeding them regularly and keeping their environment clean ensures they remain in good condition and deliver the best possible nutrition to your reptile when offered.

Selecting the right size variant for your animal makes a practical difference — smaller snails suit juveniles or smaller species, while larger specimens are better matched to adult animals with the jaw size to handle them comfortably. Choose accordingly from the size options above to get the best result for your setup.
