These flies are fed before packing to ensure they arrive carrying maximum nutritional value. To maintain that nutrition until feeding time, offer fresh leafy greens, carrots, squash, or sweet potato — these provide both hydration and essential nutrients. Remove any uneaten food daily to keep the holding container clean and prevent mould.

Packaging and Transit

Curly-wing flies are packed in a ventilated plastic tub with small air holes along the sides to maintain airflow while keeping the insects securely contained. During warmer months, the outer box may include additional perforations for ventilation. In colder conditions, a heat pack may be included to help maintain a suitable temperature throughout transit.

Store curly-wing flies at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and draughts. Provide fresh food at regular intervals and avoid overcrowding. Well-maintained live food delivers significantly better nutrition to your animals than stock that has been kept poorly.
