Product Information

Vetark Tamodine Wound Cleanser is a povidone-iodine based antiseptic solution for use in reptile first aid and wound care. It delivers broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity across bacteria, protozoa, yeasts, fungi, and some viruses — making it a reliable choice for keepers dealing with surface wounds, ulcers, or mouth rot lesions in snakes, lizards, and tortoises.

Why Povidone-Iodine

Povidone-iodine compounds have long been recognised in reptile veterinary literature as among the most consistently safe antiseptics and disinfectants available. Vetark Tamodine carries the full antimicrobial activity of free iodine, but with significantly reduced irritant and sensitising effects. It also does not stain skin or tissue.

Key Uses in Reptile Keeping

  • Cleaning and debriding mouth rot (stomatitis) lesions in the oral cavity
  • Surface cleansing of wounds and ulcers prior to veterinary or supportive treatment
  • Broad-spectrum activity against bacteria, protozoa, yeasts, fungi, and some viruses

How to Apply

Apply Vetark Tamodine to damp cotton wool and gently cleanse the surface of the wound or ulcer. Once cleaned, remove any excess solution and return the animal. For mouth rot cases, antibiotic treatment from a veterinary surgeon is likely to be necessary alongside topical cleansing, and nutritional support may also be required as part of any recovery programme.

Important Notes

Vetark Tamodine is not suitable for use on amphibians. Unlike reptiles, amphibians absorb chemicals directly through their skin, which makes iodine-based products inappropriate for this group. This product is intended for reptile use only.

Having a proven, veterinary-grade wound cleanser in your kit means you can respond quickly when a reptile presents with a surface injury or early signs of infection — giving you a practical first step while veterinary advice is sought.
