ABOUT THIS SPECIES

Candoia paulsoni, commonly called the Solomon Island Ground Boa, is a medium-sized, primarily terrestrial boa native to the Solomon Islands. Its robust body and muted colour patterns provide camouflage among leaf litter and forest floor habitats.

This species is largely nocturnal and relies on ambush predation to capture small mammals and other vertebrates. It is non-venomous and kills prey through constriction.

In captivity, Solomon Island Ground Boas thrive in terrariums with secure hides, moderate substrate for burrowing, and maintained humidity. Providing suitable temperatures and a diet of appropriately sized prey supports natural behaviour, growth, and overall health.
