Acrylic outperforms glass in two key areas for this type of keeping: it resists knocks and impacts far better, and it weighs significantly less. Optical clarity is not compromised — the transparency is flawless, making observation and photography straightforward.

Ventilation and Lighting

The top cover is constructed from steel mesh secured with magnets, keeping it firmly closed while remaining easy to open for feeding and maintenance. The mesh uses 0.09mm holes, providing a steady exchange of fresh air without offering an escape route for small invertebrates. The flat top surface is also compatible with overhead lighting should you wish to add a light source.

Substrate and Waterproofing

The base of the enclosure is removable, making cleaning and substrate changes straightforward. The interior accommodates a substrate layer up to 4cm deep, and the waterproof construction means live plants can be established inside without risk of water damage — useful for keepers who prefer a bioactive or naturalistic setup for their mantids or spiders.

Plant Watering Port

A dedicated hole in one of the side walls allows you to water plants inside the enclosure without opening the door or lid. This keeps disturbance to a minimum and reduces the chance of escapes during routine care.
