Product Information
Psittacus Lory Special Hand Feeding is a follow-on rearing formula developed specifically for hand-raised chicks within the Loriinae subfamily. It is intended for use from the point at which feathers begin to emerge, supporting healthy development through to full emancipation.
Formulated for Lories and Lorikeets
The formula includes dehydrated hibiscus flower, reflecting the natural dietary preferences of nectarivorous psittacines. Papaya is also included to support digestive transit — a practical consideration given the sensitive gut flora of lory chicks during development.
Feeding Guidance
On average, lory chicks consume between 7 and 10 ml of formula per feeding bout per 100 g of body weight. The number of feeds and quantity offered should be adjusted to suit the individual chick and its current stage of development.
Follow-On Use from Day 16
This is a follow-on formula, making it appropriate from the 16th day of life onwards. For younger neonates, an early-age formula such as a frugivorous crop milk or neonatal product is more appropriate before transitioning to this one.
Weaning Transition
Use is recommended right through to emancipation. During the weaning phase, this formula should be phased out gradually and replaced with a lory gel and dry or suspended lory nectar offered ad libitum, easing the chick toward independent feeding.
Analytical Constituents
- Crude protein: 20.0%
- Crude oils and fats: 14.0%
