ProRep Straw Bedding 10 Litre | Reptile Substrate for Arid Species

PR Straw Bedding is a compressed straw pellet substrate designed for tortoises, large snakes, and lizards from arid environments. It breaks down into a soft, loose bedding that closely mimics dry, terrestrial conditions — and crucially, it is formulated to be non-impacting if accidentally ingested during feeding.

Suitable Species

This substrate suits tortoises and a range of arid-dwelling reptiles including large colubrids, monitors, and similarly sized lizards that require a dry, low-humidity environment. It is not intended for species that require damp or bioactive setups.

How to Use It

• Spread evenly across the enclosure floor to a minimum depth of 2.5–5cm (1–2 inches)
• Spot-clean daily to remove waste and soiled material
• Replace the entire substrate every two to three weeks, or sooner if it becomes heavily wet or fouled
• Do not use this substrate wet — it is designed exclusively for dry vivarium setups

Using with Heat Mats

If your enclosure uses an under-tank heat mat, avoid laying a deep layer of PR Straw Bedding directly over it. Excess depth can trap heat and cause the mat to overheat. Always follow the heat mat manufacturer's guidance on minimum clearance and safe substrate depths.
