PR Hemp Bedding is a natural, fibrous loose substrate made from dried, chopped hemp plant stems. Designed for use in vivariums and terrariums, it suits a wide range of snakes, tortoises, and small mammals — offering a clean, low-maintenance floor covering that works with the animal's natural behaviours.

What it's made from

Produced from the dried, chopped stems of the hemp plant, this substrate is highly absorbent, dust-free, and odourless. It is completely biodegradable and safe if accidentally ingested — a genuine consideration for species that feed on the enclosure floor.

• Colubrids and other burrowing snakes
• Tortoises kept in indoor enclosures
• Small mammals housed in similar setups

How to use it

Spread evenly across the enclosure floor to a depth of at least 2.5–5cm (1–2 inches). Spot-clean daily to remove waste, and replace the entire substrate every two to three weeks — or sooner if it becomes heavily soiled or damp.

Heat mat compatibility

If an under-tank heat mat is your primary heat source, avoid using a deep layer of this substrate directly over it. Excessive depth can restrict heat dissipation and cause the mat to overheat. Always follow the heat mat manufacturer's guidelines on substrate depth.
