Product Information

The PR Coco Brick 650g is a compressed coconut fibre substrate designed for reptiles, amphibians, and invertebrates that require a humid vivarium environment. Sourced from the fibrous husk of the coconut, it expands from a compact brick into a ready-to-use bedding that works dry, damp, or as a blend with other substrates.

What It's Made From

Coconut husk fibre is stripped from the nut, screened, and ground to a consistent particle size before compression. The result is a 100% natural, slightly acidic substrate with inherent antibacterial properties and a high lignin content — meaning it resists rotting and breakdown even when kept moist, making it a reliable long-term choice for humid enclosures.

Which Species It Suits

Any species that thrives in a humid environment will benefit from this substrate. It is commonly used for tropical and forest-dwelling reptiles, frogs, salamanders, toads, tarantulas, millipedes, and other invertebrates. It can be used on its own or mixed with other substrates to achieve the texture and moisture retention required for a specific species.

How to Use It

  • Spread evenly across the enclosure floor to a depth of 2.5–5cm (1–2 inches)
  • Use dry for species with lower humidity requirements, or moisten for species needing higher ambient humidity
  • Mist with water as it dries out to maintain the target moisture level — avoid waterlogging
  • Spot clean daily by removing soiled areas and replacing with fresh substrate
  • Full replacement recommended every two to three weeks, or sooner if heavily soiled

Keeping a consistent maintenance routine ensures the substrate performs well and supports stable humidity levels throughout the vivarium.
