How it heats

This mat emits ultra-long wavelength infrared heat, which is absorbed directly by the animal and the surrounding cage furnishings — closely mimicking how solar radiation warms basking animals and substrate in the wild. Because heat is transferred this way, it can raise the surface and body temperature of your animal without necessarily increasing the overall air temperature inside the vivarium.
