Suitable Species

Fine bark chips are well suited to amphibians, invertebrates, and forest or jungle-dwelling reptiles that require a humid microclimate. The natural material supports the behavioural and environmental needs of species that would naturally encounter leaf litter and decomposing bark in the wild.

Application

Spread evenly across the enclosure floor to a minimum depth of 5cm (approximately 2 inches). For species requiring elevated humidity, the substrate can be lightly moistened — but avoid saturating or waterlogging it, as this encourages bacterial growth and can compromise animal health.

Maintenance

• Spot-clean daily to remove waste and soiled material
• Replace the substrate fully every two to three weeks, or sooner if heavily soiled
• Monitor moisture levels regularly — damp is beneficial, wet is not
