ABOUT THIS SPECIES

Chrysopelea paradisi, commonly called the Paradise Flying Snake, is a slender, highly arboreal colubrid native to tropical forests across Southeast Asia. Its iridescent green and black body provides camouflage among foliage, while its long, flattened body allows it to glide between trees, a unique adaptation among snakes.

Primarily diurnal, this species hunts small vertebrates such as lizards, rodents, and occasionally birds. Its ability to glide requires vertical space and climbing opportunities, making it an active and visually striking reptile.

In captivity, Paradise Flying Snakes thrive in tall enclosures with climbing branches, foliage, and maintained moderate humidity. Providing appropriately sized prey, vertical space, and secure hiding spots supports natural behaviours, activity, and overall health.
