ABOUT THIS SPECIES

Papuan Olive Python, is a large, non-venomous constrictor native to Papua New Guinea. It is closely related to the Australian Olive Python but is distinguished by its slightly darker olive to brown coloration.

Primarily terrestrial, this species is capable of climbing when necessary and often inhabits forest edges, riversides, and wetlands. It preys on mammals, birds, and reptiles, using constriction to subdue its prey.

In captivity, Papuan Olive Pythons require spacious enclosures with secure hides, climbing surfaces, and access to water. Maintaining appropriate temperatures, moderate humidity, and providing a diet of appropriately sized prey supports healthy growth, activity, and overall wellbeing.
