ABOUT THIS SPECIES

Ahaetulla prasina, commonly called the Oriental Whip Snake, is a slender, highly arboreal colubrid native to forests, shrubs, and plantations across Southeast Asia. Its elongated body and pointed head provide excellent camouflage among vines and branches, while its green coloration allows it to blend seamlessly with foliage.

Primarily diurnal, this species hunts lizards, frogs, relying on stealth and speed to capture prey. Its body is adapted for navigating thin branches and dense vegetation.

In captivity, Oriental Whip Snakes thrive in tall enclosures with plenty of climbing structures, foliage, and maintained humidity. Providing suitable prey, vertical space, and access to water encourages natural behaviour, active hunting, and overall health.
