Product Information

Mini Mealworms in a 500g bag are a live feeder insect suited to small and juvenile reptiles, amphibians, invertebrates, and fish. Their small size makes them particularly well-matched to hatchlings and juveniles that cannot yet handle standard-sized livefoods, and they are gut-loaded before packing to maximise nutritional content on arrival.

What Are Mini Mealworms?

Mini mealworms are the larval stage of the mealworm beetle, offered here at a smaller size than the standard feeder. They are nutritious and easy for animals to catch, though like all mealworms they are relatively high in fat, so they are best used as a supplementary feeder or occasional treat — typically once or twice a week — rather than a sole diet staple. Dispatched directly from the breeder, they arrive as fresh as possible.

Which Animals Are They Suited To?

  • Baby bearded dragons
  • Baby leopard geckos
  • Baby crested geckos
  • Baby chameleons
  • Tree frogs, dart frogs, and toads
  • Small spiders and other insectivorous invertebrates (e.g. mantis, tarantulas)
  • Fish

Packaging and Delivery

Mini mealworms are packed in a ventilated plastic tub with air holes along the sides to maintain airflow during transit. The outer cardboard box may include additional perforations during warmer months to assist temperature regulation. In colder conditions, a heat pack may be included to protect the livestock during delivery.

Keeping and Gut-Loading

Store your mini mealworms at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and draughts, and add fresh food regularly to keep them active and healthy until use. Offer fresh leafy greens, carrots, squash, or sweet potato — these provide both hydration and nutrients that transfer directly to your animal. Remove uneaten food daily to prevent mould and maintain a clean environment. Well-fed, healthy worms deliver significantly better nutrition than unfed ones.

Care Notes

Avoid overcrowding by housing them in appropriately sized containers with enough substrate for burrowing. Keeping your livefood in good condition right up to feeding time ensures your reptile or amphibian gets the most from every meal.

Sourced from farm-bred stock and gut-loaded before dispatch, these mini mealworms give keepers of small and juvenile animals a reliable, appropriately sized live food option that is straightforward to maintain and feed on.
