ABOUT THIS SPECIES

Gonocephalus kuhlii, commonly known as Kuhl’s Forest Dragon, is an arboreal agamid lizard native to tropical forests across Southeast Asia. Like other members of its genus, it has a triangular head, prominent crest, and rough spiny scales that provide camouflage among tree trunks and dense foliage.

The species typically displays earthy green, brown, or olive tones with subtle markings, allowing it to blend seamlessly into its forested environment. It perches vertically on branches and tree trunks, often remaining motionless while waiting to ambush insects.

Active during the day, Kuhl’s Forest Dragon relies heavily on vertical space, climbing structures, and dense cover for foraging and protection. In captivity, a tall, planted enclosure with strong climbing surfaces and maintained humidity closely replicates the forest habitats this species naturally occupies.
