What They're Used For

Flightless fruit flies are a core part of the diet for dart frogs, mantises, spiderlings, and baby amphibians. How They're Packed

Cultures arrive in a ventilated plastic tub with small air holes along the sides, maintaining airflow while keeping the insects securely contained. During warmer months the outer packaging may include additional perforations to prevent heat build-up; in colder months a heat pack may be included to protect the flies during transit.

Keeping Them in Good Condition

• Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and draughts.
• Offer fresh leafy greens, carrot, squash, or sweet potato to keep them gut-loaded right up until use.
• Remove uneaten food daily to prevent mould and maintain a clean culture.
• Avoid overcrowding — appropriate housing keeps mortality low and activity high.
