Native Range: Malay Peninsula, Borneo, Sumatra (Indonesia & Malaysia)

Enclosure: Semi-aquatic paludarium with swampy land section.
Heating: 22-24 'C

Humidity: 60% - 80%

UVB: low output

Diet: Invertebrates 3 times a week

Water: Large, clean water section; regular water changes and robust filtration strongly recommended

ABOUT THIS SPECIES

Pseudobufo subasper is an unusual bufonid often called the False Toad, notable for being far more aquatic than most “typical” toads. In the wild it’s closely tied to coastal peat-swamp habitats, spending much of its time in and around pools, and it has strongly webbed hind feet that reflect that lifestyle. Adults can be hefty, with females reaching notably larger sizes than males, so planning a setup around water quality and easy access to land is essential.
