The ET T5 UVB Fixture 120cm (PT4258) is a high-output T5 fluorescent hood designed for reptile terrariums where strong, reliable UVB delivery is non-negotiable. Running a 54W tube at 120cm, it is built specifically for use with T5 VHO UVB bulbs and will also accept any compatible T5 linear fluorescent of the correct wattage and length. It suits keepers running large enclosures who need a fixture that performs consistently and sits cleanly within a living space.

Electronic Ballast and Output

The high-quality electronic ballast eliminates flicker entirely, which matters both for your animal's welfare and for the longevity of the tube itself. The highly polished internal reflector increases lamp output by 2.5 times compared to running the bulb without one — meaning more usable UVB and visible light reaching your animal for the same energy draw.

Safety and Protection

The fixture comes with a grounded plug as standard and carries built-in protection against over-voltage, over-current, over-heating, and end-of-lamp-life (EOL) shutoff. These are not optional extras — they are integrated into the design to protect both the equipment and the keeper.

Placement and Installation

The fixture can be placed directly on top of standard terrarium mesh or mounted inside the enclosure using the appropriate mounting brackets (sold separately). For extended setups, multiple units can be positioned side by side to cover extra-long enclosures.

Up to 10 units can be chained together using optional grounded interconnection cables, available in 30cm or 60cm lengths (sold separately). This eliminates cable clutter and allows all linked fixtures to be controlled from a single timer — a practical advantage in multi-enclosure setups.

UVB and Basking — Used Together

UVB alone does not replicate natural sunlight. For a complete and biologically appropriate light environment, this fixture should always be paired with a dedicated infrared-A basking source such as an intense basking spot or halogen bulb. UVB drives vitamin D3 synthesis; infrared-A drives thermoregulation — both are needed.
