The ET Reptile UVB 100 Compact Lamp 13W is a dedicated UVB compact fluorescent bulb designed for tropical and sub-tropical reptiles housed in vivariums and terrariums. It replicates the moderate UV conditions found in rainforest and humid tropical environments — where diffused light, weather variation and canopy shade reduce direct sunlight at ground level. For species that live in these conditions, getting UVB intensity right matters as much as providing it at all.

UVB Output and Range

This lamp produces optimal UVB levels suited to shaded tropical environments, with an effective range of up to 40 cm (15 inches). That makes it well-suited to compact setups where the lamp sits relatively close to the reptile's resting zone. The UVB output supports vitamin D3 photosynthesis in the skin, which in turn enables proper calcium absorption — directly reducing the risk of metabolic bone disease.

UVA and Behavioural Benefits

Alongside UVB, the lamp emits UVA radiation. UVA plays a distinct role in reptile wellbeing — it influences appetite, general activity levels and reproductive behaviour. Many reptiles can perceive UVA wavelengths that are invisible to humans, so providing it brings the animal's visual and physiological environment closer to what it would experience naturally.
