The ET Equatorial Forest Floor Dual Layer is a ready-to-use, two-layer substrate system designed to replicate the natural forest floor found in equatorial environments. How the layers work

The system replicates the two distinct strata found on a natural equatorial forest floor. The base layer is composed of rich organic matter — decomposed leaves and wood — mirroring the dense, moisture-retaining substrate found beneath the leaf litter in the wild. The top layer sits over this to complete the setup and protect the substrate beneath.

Sun-dried Ardisia leaves sourced from sustainable resources make up the top layer, recreating the soft leaf litter covering characteristic of equatorial forest floors. This layer provides a natural surface for animals to burrow into and use as cover, supporting instinctive behaviours. It also acts as a barrier that reduces moisture loss from the base substrate, keeping conditions more stable over time.
