ABOUT THIS SPECIES

Ptyas korros, commonly called the Indo-Chinese Rat Snake, is a large, fast-moving colubrid native to the forests, agricultural areas, and grasslands of Southeast Asia. It is diurnal and primarily feeds on rodents, birds, and occasionally small reptiles.

The species has a slender, elongated body with smooth scales, typically brown or olive in colour, sometimes with faint longitudinal markings. Its size and speed make it an active hunter capable of covering considerable distances in search of prey.

In captivity, Indo-Chinese Rat Snakes require spacious enclosures with climbing opportunities, hiding spots, and a water source. Maintaining proper temperature, humidity, and a diet of appropriately sized prey supports healthy growth, activity, and natural behaviour.
