Oligodon purpuracens, commonly known as the Brown Kukri Snake, is a small, terrestrial colubrid native to the Philippines. Members of the genus Oligodon are known for their specialised teeth shaped like a kukri knife, which they use to slice eggs and small prey.

This species is secretive and often found in leaf litter, under logs, or in loose soil, where its slender body and brown coloration help it remain concealed. It is primarily nocturnal or crepuscular and feeds on small reptiles, amphibians, and eggs in the wild.

In captivity, Purple Kukri Snakes require a terrarium with a burrowing substrate, hiding spots, moderate humidity, and clean water. Providing a diet of small prey items and maintaining stable environmental conditions encourages natural behaviours and supports overall health.
